A few moments before leaving
Before following Antonio and Giorgia out of the house, we spend a little longer in the rooms. Someone straightens a tie, someone fastens a bracelet, someone leans in for a kiss. Other faces appear in the mirrors; glances pause at the doorways. We photograph these moments as they happen. An embrace can be over before everyone has been called together for a picture. Meanwhile, the children find their own place among the grown-ups.
L’attesa cambia faccia
Watching the distance close
At the church entrance, we look for Antonio, then turn back towards the door. Giorgia walks down the aisle and the distance between them grows shorter. Up close, we follow their hands and the exchange of rings. In the wider frames, we return to the children, the faces in the pews, the guests watching without noticing the camera. We want to keep both stories together: the couple’s, and that of the people there with them.
Dai coriandoli all’acqua ferma
From confetti to still water
Outside the church, the frame fills with raised hands, rice and red confetti as the couple make their way through the guests. We let some of that lovely commotion remain in the photographs. Soon afterwards, beside the water, the pace changes. The veil crosses the frame, catching the air and briefly hiding part of the dress. We move between the shade of the trees and the water’s edge. Just a few steps take us from the crowd to a portrait of two.
The last light outside
Later, we step outside again. The sun comes through the leaves, then drops towards the fields and the hay bales. We move between the scale of the landscape and the closeness of a face: Antonio and Giorgia small beneath a tree, a smile up close, the dress following their steps. We do not need to hold this pause for long. The light changes quickly, and voices from the party are still within reach.
Back in the middle of it all
Inside, the party has already brought everyone onto the dance floor. We follow the couple through dancing, games and laughter, making room for the people around them too. Familiar embraces return, this time with jackets set aside and less reason to stand still. The way outside leads through sparklers held up by the guests. Then comes the cake beside the pool, the glasses and the fireworks. We end the story behind their shoulders, as they look in the same direction.
